So it's out! The new Iron Man movie is a smash success. Of course one of the interesting facts about this latest movie from Marvel is that it is the first movie produced by Marvel rather than just under Marvel license. Marvel Studios has done well. They could not have cast anyone better for the role of Tony Stark than Robert Downey Jr. Bravo.
Jeff Bridges as a bad guy?? Yeah it works, nice job. I won't go so far as to declare this the best super hero movie ever, no that would be a stretch, but aside from Spiderman and Batman Begins which I still believe represent the bar at which all others strive to clear, This movie is solid as iron... pun fully intended ;)
I won't give away any plot info but rest assured that this movie does a great job of building up the characters without telling you too much and moving the action along at a good pace without sacrificing the all important need to establish the basic premise. All of this was very well executed. In fact, the only thing I would have like to have seen was a little more of the "Pre - Iron Man" Tony Stark. We are only given a glimpse of who Tony was before he becomes Iron Man. But that is a minor nit pick. Note to Marvel... include some cutting room floor footage in the DVD!
My friends, this movie is a must see, even if you are not a comic book super hero kook like me.
Now, if you are going to take the little ones the PG-13 rating is due likely to a little bit of violence but no more than Star Wars Episode III and one mildly racy bedroom scene, but frankly that scene is PG not PG-13 and it lasts all of 10 seconds... it will fly right over your 10 year olds head. This movie is good family fun.
Did I mention, Gwyneth Paltrow is hot in this film? No? Well, then, Gwyneth Paltrow is smokin' ass hot in this film! Oops, that was over the top. She looks good as a redhead though and she really puts the 'pep' in Pepper Potts!
Just spend the money and go see the film. I saw it opening day at Cinetopia in all it's full digital glory!
